Williamsbridge residents calling for help with piles of trash in their neighborhood
According to the Housing Preservation and Development agency, the building has received 69 complaints and 81 violations in the last two years.
Residents in Williamsbridge say that piles of trash have taken over the entryway of their building.
Those who live at 3033 Wallace Ave. say it’s been a nightmare they’ve been dealing with for months. They say that even though they’re calling for help, nobody comes to clean it up.
“Despite our calls to the mayor's office, despite our calls to the city dump, they come, they argue with us. They say that their there needs to be a super that properly bags everything and they even gave us clear bags to separate, you know, recycling and stuff. And still they don't pick it up,” said resident Jessica.
According to the Housing Preservation and Development agency, the building has received 69 complaints and 81 violations in the last two years.
News 12 crews were at the building when multiple summonses were posted on the front door. Now, many in the building say they’re considering paying out of pocket to have the trash removed by a private company.
News 12 has reached out to the Department of Sanitation for comment. They responded, saying that they’ve investigated the location and issued a summons.
