In 2019, Jessica Cicchino, senior vice president of research at IIHS, did a study looking at injured e-scooter rides in Washington D.C. She told News 12 her findings concluded most injuries were caused while on the sidewalk.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends the following to practice safe riding:
Wear a helmet
Check that all vehicle parts are working (brakes, bell, etc)
See and be seen
