A tent belonging to a homeless person has been removed from the roof of a privately-owned building on Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport, says the building's owner.

The owner says the person was breaking the law by "squatting" on the property.

Executive director Larry Fullerton, of the Bridgeport Rescue Mission says the situation is "a heartbreaking example of the growing problem of homelessness in Bridgeport and nationwide."

Fullerton says nonprofit organizations like his need more state and federal funding to help combat the problem of homelessness.
