A two-week “learn to swim program” held its graduation ceremony today at Roberto Clemente State Park. Organizers tell News 12 that around 26 students graduated today. According to their website the program is for children ages 1 ½ - 17.

News 12 spoke to proud parents that watched their children show off their swimming skills. It’s a skill that helps children with fitness and safety. One local mother told us why it’s so important for children to learn swimming at an early age.

“I’ve seen on the news so many accidents because kids don’t know how to swim so I think this is really important that all kids learn how to swim,” said Angela Davenport.

The program is free to take part in. The link to sign up is below.
