A large fallen tree on the corner of East 36th Street and Avenue L in Canarsie closed off the area to traffic and knocked out power to residents.

Crews from NYC Parks, Con Edison and internet carriers were on the scene working to repair damage and clear the area.

Members of a nearby church told News 12 they had to cancel their Sunday service due to the disruption caused by the tree.

Crews on scene told News 12 that power has been restored. However, fallen wires that crews say burned the concrete sidewalk remained down with access to the street closed.
