A man was arrested and charged in connection with a 2006 deadly hit-and-run in the Bronx.

Police said he was extradited from the country of Kosovo on Friday morning.

Ahmet Gashi, 42, was escorted out of the 50th Police Precinct in handcuffs on Friday night.

Investigators said it was in 2006, just hours before the New Year, when Gashi got into an argument with 28-year-old Kemal Kolenovic of Midwood, Brooklyn.

Police said Gashi got into an SUV, drove onto the sidewalk and hit Kolenovic, then drove off.

It happened outside of a Bronx bar near Crescent and Belmont avenues in Belmont.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Loved ones spoke to News 12 after the incident and said the victim was an aspiring boxer with a bright future and had just won the New York state Welterweight boxing title.

The NYPD said it tracked Gashi down in Kovoso after it received a tip in April.

The Bronx District Attorney's Office issued a red notice for his arrest, then marshals and local police arrested the 42-year-old.

Gashi is charged with second-degree murder.
