The Village of Cold Spring has received $2.5 million in funding for critical repairs to its Upper Dam.

The funding comes from the State Department of Environmental Conservation's (DEC) Water Quality Improvement Project Program.

The repairs will focus on reconstructing the dam's walls, raising the dam height, and making safety improvements.

The goal of the project is to protect the village's drinking water supply, which serves Cold Spring, Nelsonville, and parts of Philipstown.

The Upper Dam has been in need of repairs for years, classified as a high hazard dam by the DEC.
