A new single men’s migrant shelter with over 2,200 beds is coming to Mott Haven, and local officials are speaking out against the plan.

Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson expressed frustration with the city’s decision.

“The Bronx should not have to bear the brunt of this ongoing crisis,” she said, opposing the shelter’s scale and its placement in a building zoned for manufacturing.

The proposed site, located near East 141st Street and Bruckner Boulevard, has also drawn concerns from nearby businesses.

Local auto shop employees fear for increased traffic and congestion in the area.

Community Board 1 will hold a meeting about the shelter on Jan. 27 to discuss the plan further.
