A 21-year-old Bronx man is taking action against the NYPD after he said he was falsely arrested and assaulted by police officers in Fordham.

The incident allegedly occurred shortly after midnight on Dec. 28 outside of an apartment building on East 188th Street.

Jaylin Ryan, of Melrose, told News 12 he double parked at the fire hydrant outside of the building when six officers surrounded the Mercedes SUV he was driving and demanded multiple times that he hand over his ID.

“I was just trying to figure out,'What did I do wrong?'” Ryan said. “Did I do anything wrong? I was trying to be reasonable, talk this out.”

Ryan claimed one officer pushed him against the car, handcuffed him, then punched him in the face, fracturing part of his jaw.

Ryan said he was racially targeted, and he recently filed a complaint through the comptroller's office.

“I’m still shaken up about it,” Ryan said. “I’m still nervous. I don’t even come outside, to be honest.”

Ryan’s attorney, Eric Sanders, gave News 12 multiple profanity-filled cellphone videos from the night of the alleged incident.

Caroline Martinez, Ryan’s friend, said she witnessed the alleged abuse by police.

“I never really expected anything like that to happen to somebody that I love and I care for,” Martine said.

She claimed Ryan was just dropping her off safely outside her Fordham apartment.

“Standing here [outside of the apartment building] just brings me back to that day,” Martinez said.

Ryan wants the six officers to be held accountable.

“I’m hoping that they lose their jobs, all of them,” Ryan said.

News 12 reached out to the NYPD on Sunday afternoon. A spokesperson declined to comment citing the pending litigation.
