The city is stepping up efforts to address homelessness, drug use and sanitation issues at The Hub.

As part of the Community Link Initiative, multiple agencies are working together to clean up the area and connect people to resources.

Local leaders say the effort is a good start but emphasize the need for long-term solutions to create lasting change.

"The reality is that the Bronx continues to bear a disproportionately high burden," said Jean Wright, the deputy commissioner of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

"There is no one solution to these intersecting crises, but we cannot forget that at the heart of our efforts here are people," he said.
