Gov. Kathy Hochul released data to show her five-point subway safety plan that was launched last year is working.

The governor announced on Thursday that statewide transit crime is down 29% and arrest are up 71%.

"People see this multifaceted approach. And I think it's providing a level of comfort that is welcome," said Danny Pearlstein, of Riders Alliance.

The governor's plan included adding more security cameras to subway cars, protective barriers to subway platforms and more NYPD officers in the subways. Hochul also posted 250 National Guard members at stations across the city.

While transit crime is down statewide, News 12 looked to see how the governor's plan impacted the Bronx.

Transit crime is down in the Bronx 35.6%, year to date.

"The answer is to keep investing in what works, keep investing in those long term solutions," said Pearlstein.
