State police: Scam calls claim people are being investigated for money laundering
Troopers and law enforcement agencies will never ask for money along with personal information over the phone, authorities say.

Connecticut State Police say residents are receiving scam phone calls from unknown male callers who claim to be state troopers or members of the U.S. Marshal Service.
Police say the scammers, who speak with a thick accident, tell victims they are under investigation for money laundering and ask for personal information over the phone.
The calls appear to be coming from 860-706-5652, which is the Central District Major Crime main line.
Police say these calls are not being made by CDMC or state police. The calls are being investigated.

Anyone who receives a call that claims to be from police or another government agency is advised to not provide them with sensitive information and hang up. People are asked to verify the call by contacting the organization using an official phone number.
If the call does seem suspicious, people should report it immediately by calling 911.
