Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark says an inmate at Rikers Island was indicted for assaulting a nurse as the nurse was treating him.

It was March 12 when 25-year-old Claude White was being treated at a medical clinic in the jail complex. He then swiped at the nurse's face, cutting his cheek before corrections officers were able to remove him from the room.

A small, needle-like device was found on White.

Clark says the nurse's injuries were not serious.

White is now charged with assault and with bringing contraband into the jail.
