NYPD Sgt. Eric Duran was back in court Monday, facing charges in the 2023 cooler-throwing death of Eric Duprey.

The courtroom at the Bronx Hall of Justice was packed with both supporters and family members.

"We want justice because he left three kids orphaned,” said Duprey’s sister, Erica.

Surveillance video from last August shows Duran, in plain clothes, throwing a cooler at Duprey as he fled on a motorbike during an alleged drug bust in Kingsbridge Heights. Duprey was knocked off the bike and killed.

Duran has been indicted on manslaughter, assault and criminally negligent homicide charges from the Attorney General's Office. Activists say they’ll continue to fill the courtroom until there’s justice.

“We believe in morality…That’s why we will continue to show up,” said Chivona Newsome, with Black Lives Matter.

If convicted, Duran faces up to 25 years in prison. His next court date is May 20.
