The Kingsbridge Armory is getting fully redeveloped, and News 12 got an exclusive look inside.

The city says the project will create over 3,000 construction jobs and 360 permanent jobs.

The 100-year-old building was used for military training purposes, and then sat dormant for close to 30 years. Now, the city is working with the community to reimagine the site.

The main hall is a 4-acre room with 110-foot ceilings and no columns.

Development group 8th Regiment Partners LLC will lead the project.

“There’s going to be a live entertainment venue for music and different shows. There'll be different recreation functions in here, lots of space for community groups and cultural institutions,” said Michael Syracuse, an architect with FXCOLLABORATIVE, a group working on the site. “We're looking at a possible museum as well, possibility of athletic uses in here and incubator space for light manufacturing as well.”

The development team told News 12 they’re in the early design phase, and that the public approval process is set to begin later this month. They hope to break ground on the site in 2026.

Aside from the armory, there will be 450 units of affordable housing built next to it as part of a phase two of the project.
