Today is the last public meeting before the Bally's Bronx Community Advisory Committee decides on the plans to bring the casino to our borough.

Plans to bring a casino to Throgs Neck is a controversial topic in our borough. And tonight is your last chance to have your voice heard before the committee votes on whether to move forward with the project.

Bally's representatives say they have gotten at least 50% support in some polls they’ve taken from Throgs Neck residents. Some Bronx residents say it will be good for the community bringing tourism and money to the Bronx. While others say the casino will attract an unwanted crowd and cause traffic.

Last month Mayor Eric Adams vetoed the city council's decision not to allow part of Ferry Point Park to be rezoned for commercial use. This was a necessary step for the casino to move forward. And the city council speaker let that veto stand.

Here’s what’s next:

The final public meeting will be at American Turners at 6 p.m. today.

The Community Advisory Committee needs to vote on the project by the end of the month.

Then the State Gaming Commission will award up to three new casino licenses by the end of the year.
