Officials say an 88-year-old man died following a fire at 1230 Woodycrest Ave. on Sunday afternoon.
The identity of the man has not been revealed, but residents told News 12 on Tuesday they knew him well.
"I've known him since I moved in here. We shared parking spots, and he was a great guy," said neighbor Cesar Hidalgo.
Hidalgo said the man lived in a fifth-floor apartment, where the fire started.
