Bronx man indicted for shooting teen at Mexican Day parade in Manhattan

The Manhattan District Attorney's Office says a Bronx man was indicted for allegedly shooting teen during the Mexican Day parade in Manhattan.

They say 35-year-old Joel Nieves allegedly fired gunshots and hit a 17-year-old girl on Sept. 21, 2025.

Nieves fired multiple shots at a group of individuals he had got into a physical altercation with, according to officials.

The teen was an innocent bystander and suffered a collapsed lung.

Nieves is charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
