A Wakefield resident says the Department of Sanitation has left chemical sand down his entire street, leaving hazardous conditions for people and animals.

Joe Amato says this all started Oct. 24, when a sanitation truck broke down and released hydraulic fuel down the street.

A truck sweeper came and left absorbent sand to soak up the fuel that was left.

Over a month later, the chemical sand is still found down his entire street.

Amato says this can be dangerous for other people on the block and their pets.

"It's the hazardous part that I'm worried about. It's very dangerous... extremely dangerous," said Amato

News 12 reached out to the Department of Sanitation.
