Tenants in a Highbridge apartment building are living amongst what looks like a sewage-filled pit in their back patio at 993 Summit Ave.

Garbage can be found floating above inches of sewage water. Barbie, who is a tenant in the building, says she is disgusted.

"There's people throwing their garbage.. there are feces here," says Barbie.

A thick odor fills the air of this entire building.

"It has a smell.. you can smell it," says Barbie.

Residents say this building also has issues with mold, leaks, lack of heat and rats.

"So far, we've caught four in one day.. and they attack you, you need to run," explains Marilyn, who has been dealing with a rat infestation.

Barbie, who hasn't had heat or hot water for months, says something needs to change.

"It's unbearable; how it felt outside is how it felt in my apartment but 10 times worse," she says.

News 12 has called and emailed management, but has gotten no response.
