One more frigid morning before a triumphant return to warmth

Today could likely be the coldest day we'll have around the region until some point in fall. After the morning chill relaxes Thursday a.m. the air will slowly begin to warm. Sustained spring weather is right around the corner.

The spring chill will continue for one more morning before the winds change direction and the air begins to slowly warm.

Frost and freeze conditions are expected again tonight. Overnight lows will drop back into the low and mid-30s. Some outlying areas in northwestern areas could drop into the upper 20s.

Sunny, dry weather will carry us through the day on Thursday. Afternoon highs reaching for the mid- to upper 50s. A few spots may actually overachieve and get to 60 degrees.

The lack of rain is becoming a concern. The entire state is either in abnormally dry or moderate drought conditions. We could use another good soaking rain. But it's just not in the forecast this week. The best we can do is a brief sprinkle or very light shower in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

The developing sunny, warm and dry conditions will really aggravate allergy sufferers. Tree pollen is forecasted to be on the higher side heading into the weekend.
