Drug factory uncovered in Ansonia as police seize illegal narcotics and paraphernalia

A man has been charged with running a drug factory following the seizure of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia during the execution of a search warrant Thursday afternoon at a home in Ansonia.

Watertown police searched a residence on Garden Street, where investigators said illegal drugs and paraphernalia were found.

Joseph Crego, 30, was arrested at the scene.

He has been charged with operation of a drug factory, two counts of sale of a hallucinogen, and sale of narcotics.

Crego is being held on a $750,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear Friday in Derby Superior Court.

Watertown police were assisted by the Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Division, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and the Ansonia Police Department.
