Heavy police presence in Syosset, bomb squad on scene

Police have been investigating a residential neighborhood in Syosset for several hours.

Nassau County police say officers were dispatched to Patricia Lane around 1:30 p.m. The street remains closed between the Long Island Expressway service road and Loretta Drive.

A News 12 crew on scene observed police removing bottles and containers from a home and placing them on the front lawn.

The Nassau County police bomb squad was also seen at the location.

Patricia Lane is located behind the Syosset Public Library and near several schools.

Authorities have not said what prompted the investigation or whether there is any danger to the public at this time.
