Milk Street Lactation Support Center celebrated its expansion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday at its location on First Street in Norwalk.

The center provides prenatal education and postpartum help, including lactation guidance.

The company opened its storefront in 2022 and recently expanded with the help of grants through the Norwalk Innovations Initiative. Staff say they needed the additional space to accommodate the growing demand for services in the community.

Its goal is to be a space where mothers can feel seen and heard as they adjust to parenthood.

"I think after a woman gives birth, it's the most vulnerable time of her life - feeling overwhelmed by everything on social media and conflicting advice. They can come here for support, be listened to, get proper treatment and support so that they can meet their feeding goals," says Beth Iovinelli, the center's owner.
