Woodbridge police are stepping up enforcement on groups of teenage cyclists.

Police shared a video to News 12 showing almost a dozen teens riding into oncoming traffic, popping wheelies and weaving through the lanes on Woodbridge Center Drive.

Officers say that as the weather gets warmer, the complaints grow about teens riding recklessly. The town says to expect an uptick in patrols and for police to visit all five junior high schools in town.

“We’re doing our best with education, prevention and if need be, warning summonses and even notifying parents,” says Woodbridge Police Sgt. Joseph Angelo.

Mayor John McCormac says they are even bringing the message to the schools.

"We're having an assembly with our police department in the next month…I'm going to bring people…who are going to explain this is what you can do, this is what you can't do. It's becoming a real nuisance for driving simply down the road,” he says.

Repeat offenders could face summonses, fines or have their bikes confiscated.
