Lockdown lifted at Northern Valley Regional HS after student found with air pistol
The school was placed on lockdown around 11:30 a.m. after a student reported that another student inside the building may have had a weapon, officials said.

A lockdown at Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan was lifted Monday after police say a student was found with a CO2 air pistol.
The school was placed on lockdown around 11:30 a.m. after a student reported that another student inside the building may have had a weapon, officials said.
Officials said the student was quickly located, apprehended and taken into police custody. A Bergen County K-9 Unit sweep was conducted, and the building was deemed safe shortly before 1 p.m.
“The rapid response from our local and county partners ensured this situation was resolved safely and efficiently,” said Officer in Charge Kathryn Weaver of the Old Tappan Police Department. “The suspect was found in possession of a CO2 Air Pistol. A thorough investigation has been completed, and the individual will be charged with threat and weapon-related offenses."
Police from Old Tappan, Northvale, Norwood, Harrington Park, Closter and River Vale responded, along with the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and Bergen County SWAT Team.
"We want to thank the responding local police departments, Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, and Bergen County SWAT Team who responded in such a professional and decisive manner," Superintendent James Santana of the Northern Valley Regional school district said in a statement.
