A West Farms woman is seeking help following a water leak in her apartment.

Jeanette Osorio said the nightmare left behind in her Mohegan Avenue apartment now has her fearing for her health and overall feeling helpless when it comes to getting help to start over.

"[At 2 a.m.], I felt the drip on the bed. And when I turned on the light, it was dripping," said Osorio.

Osorio shared videos with News 12 of a leak that she said started on April 19. Water can be seen dripping from her light onto her bed.

Management repaired the leak. However, Osorio claims she was told the water damage left behind on her bed and clothes is her responsibility.

“Stuff is wet, molded and mildewed. And they left me with the mess. They said, ‘You are responsible to clean up this stuff,’" shared Osorio.

For now, she said she is forced to sleep on the floor on a makeshift bed she put together with the cushions from her couch.

She says she has concerns about possibly being exposed to mold and mildew.

"I don't know if this is affecting my health. Mentally and physically, this has taken a toll on me. I just don't know what else to do," Osorio said.

A spokesperson from Dolphin Property Services wrote in part, “Upon learning of the leak in the resident’s apartment, management moved swiftly to relocate the resident to a hotel and repair the water leak and surrounding drywall. We take concerns around mold and mildew seriously and inspected the apartment today and found no evidence of either in the walls of the resident’s apartment.”

Osorio also shared she does not have renters' insurance to help out with the cost of damages to her property.

"I'm disgusted, discouraged. Nobody wants to seem to help out, so this is the measure that I have to get for anything to be done," said Osorio.
