People who live near Yankee Stadium say they're tired of Macombs Dam Park being neglected – an issue they have been dealing with for years.

Earlier this month, a fire on the bleachers destroyed a local soccer team's equipment. Neighbors say the charred remains are a reminder of the ongoing problems. They believe Yankee Stadium should step in to help restore the park.

For many, like Rhiannon Murphy, it's a space for peace.

"Every morning we come here and we work out as a community," said Murphy. "I believe it's how we even stayed healthy and alive."

A spokesperson for the city's parks department says staff work hard to keep the park clean on a daily basis and that they're in the process of updating the space.
