A spokesperson for the NYPD confirmed the transfer of a Brooklyn police captain after a video of him criticizing Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Democrats went viral.

Captain James Wilson was caught on camera during an anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement protest outside of Wyckoff Heights Medical Center. Wilson is seen calling Mamdani, “…an embarrassment and total nonsense.”

“All Democrats…waste of human race,” the captain later states.

Wilson also says Mamdani is “Not my mayor” and that he is “temporary” and “expendable.”

The NYPD says it transferred Wilson on Monday, from the 94th Precinct to the Communications Division within the 911 Call Center in the Bronx.

Its spokesperson says an on-duty officer is prohibited from publicly expressing personal views about a political party.

In an unrelated news conference on Monday, Mamdani said he did not see the video.

News 12 followed up with the mayor’s office on Tuesday but was referred to the NYPD.

News 12 reached out to the Captains Endowment Association for comment and is waiting for a response.
