Multiple people were taken into custody after police say they responded to a drag race in Eastchester Sunday morning.

Police responded to a 911 call for drag racing at 2:30 a.m. on Hollers and Pinkney avenues.

Police say they activated sirens and lights to disperse the 30 to 40 vehicles and most left without incident.

An eyewitness told News 12 that drivers in their mid-20s show up every night. He says the large group of people in their vehicles begin to race up and down the street.

He said a security camera was installed on that street over a month ago in response to the street racing but nothing has changed.

Jordin, a truck driver, said he parks his vehicle in the area often. He feels helpless to the dangerous driving.

"It's annoying, but what can I do?" he said. "I'm just a small fish in a big problem."

At least seven people are in custody for charges that include criminal possession of a weapon and forged instrument, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and return of a warrant.

Multiple summonses were also issued.

There were no injuries.
