News 12's Heather Fordham speaks exclusively with New York City World Cup Czar Maya Handa about coordinating the city's 2026 World Cup experience. Handa got the opportunity to work in the role after meeting Mayor Zohran Mamdani through a recreational soccer league in Ridgewood. Since then, they have worked together in politics and in sports. She says that she wants to prioritize the celebration of soccer, but also focus on how this could economically benefit New Yorkers. Handa announced that there will be free street soccer field days at 50 public schools throughout the five boroughs.

New York City Department of Education released its roadmap that guides schools on how to use artificial intelligence in the classrooms. News 12's Heather Fordham spoke with the co-chair of the Parent Coalition for Student Privacy, Leonie Haimson, who says that the roadmap is not enough. Haimson says that AI poses a high risk to student privacy and that this plan does not implement any security measures or safeguards.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani unveiled a $124.7 billion balanced budget after months of negotiations. City leadership is hosting "NYCHA in Your Neighborhood" forums that are aimed at discussing apartment issues.
