Man charged with attempted murder, accused of shooting another man in the chest in Fordham

A man is facing an attempted murder charged for allegedly shooting another man in the chest Fordham, police say.

Orlando Martinez, 28, is accused of shooting the 32-year-old during an argument just after 9 p.m. on May 15 in front of 268 East 198 St.

The NYPD says Martinez, of Belmont, allegedly took off running, traveling southbound on Briggs Avenue after the shooting.

EMS rushed the 32-year-old to St. Barnabas Hospital. He is expected to recover, according to police.

The NYPD released images of the gunman on Monday. Martinez was arrested three days later.

He faces additional charges including assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
