Police identify man wanted for shooting 14-year-old boy in broad daylight in Allerton

Police have identified the man they say is on the run after shooting a 14-year-old boy in Allerton.

Roderick Allen, 55, allegedly opened fire on the teen around 3:50 p.m. Friday near Cruger and Burke avenues, just steps from a strip of businesses.

The NYPD says the 14-year-old was struck in the left leg and grazed by a bullet in the right leg.

Paramedics took the teen to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi. Police say he is expected to recover.

Allen allegedly took off running after the shooting, traveling southbound on Cruger Avenue.

The NYPD released an image and a video of Allen, who they say was last seen wearing black shorts, a white tank top, black sneakers and a black hat.
