Police have identified the man they say is on the run after shooting a 14-year-old boy in Allerton.
Roderick Allen, 55, allegedly started an argument with the teen before opening fire. It happened at around 3:50 p.m. Friday near Cruger and Burke avenues, just steps from a strip of businesses.
The NYPD says the 14-year-old was struck in the left leg and grazed by a bullet in the right leg.
Paramedics took the teen to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi. Police say he is expected to recover.
News 12 spoke to the teen's mother off-camera. She says her main focus right now is helping her son recover, both mentally and physically.
Allen allegedly took off running after the shooting, traveling southbound on Cruger Avenue.
The Bronx District Attorney's Office says Allen has a criminal record. The 55-year-old was convicted for cocaine possession in 2012 and domestic violence in 2018.
The NYPD released an image and a video of Allen, who they say was last seen wearing black shorts, a white tank top, black sneakers and a black hat.
Anyone with information is urged to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
