Police are searching for the people responsible for a shooting in Norwood that left a 23-year-old man dead.
Police were called to East 207th Street just after midnight Monday and found 23-year-old Jaden Purvis with gunshot wounds in his torso. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died.
A blood-stained sidewalk and more than a dozen evidence markers remained on the street Monday as investigators searched for clues. The shooting happened near an elementary school and several homes.
"It sounds like shots. Like pap-pap-pap," said neighbor Lucy Biaggi, who says she heard about five gunshots.
The violence also damaged nearby parked cars. One parked vehicle had several bullet holes in the windshield, and the owners say they found two bullets inside the car.
"We walked in. I didn't think much of it. Then we saw the holes," said Edgar, the owner of the vehicle. "We had to go to work, but now we couldn't go to work because of the shooting."
Some neighbors told News 12 they believe the shooting may have been targeted.
Witnesses also said they saw a woman holding a child and crying at the scene, though her connection to the victim remains unclear.
News 12 spoke with Purvis' mother, who appeared visibly shaken. She said the family is not ready to speak publicly and asked for privacy during this difficult time.
Police sources tell News 12 that investigators are looking for two men who drove away from the scene in a black BMW heading down Parkside Place. No arrests have been made.
