Police say a 93-year-old woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal hit-and-run in Wakefield.

Lenora Campbell was struck by a motorcycle just before 2:30 p.m. Monday while she was crossing White Plains Road at East 225th Street, just blocks from her home.

Police are now identifying the motorcyclist as a 31-year-old man, who they say was riding a 2012 Yamaha YZF-R1 when he struck Campbell. He remains on the run as of Tuesday afternoon.

News 12 obtained surveillance video of the crash, which shows the 93-year-old being hit and then fly down the road as the motorcyclist continues riding eastbound on East 225th Street.

One witness described the incident as "heartbreaking," and said neighbors rushed to Campbell's aid before EMS arrived.

“We tried to stop him, but he didn’t stop. He was coming too fast," the witness said.

Police say paramedics rushed Campbell to Jacobi Hospital, where she died.

Anyone with information about the motorcyclist's whereabouts is urged to contact the NYPD.
