Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark says a man was sentenced for randomly shooting an Allerton gas station worker in 2022.
Termaine Saulsbury, 42, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, will serve 17 years behind bars for shooting the 59-year-old man in the head inside 2290 Boston Road, leaving him with lifelong injuries.
Prosecutors say the random act of violence unfolded on Nov. 22, 2022, around 7 p.m.
"The defendant opened the door of the victim's office and shot him in the head," said Clark.
Paramedics rushed the man to a nearby hospital, where he underwent multiple surgeries and was left on a ventilator and feeding tube for multiple months, according to court documents.
Saulsbury attempted to evade law enforcement after the crime and traveled back to Pennsylvania.
Just days later, he shot a Philadelphia Parking Authority officer, prosecutors say.
Saulsbury was held in his home state until his extradition to New York in January 2026, where he pleaded guilty to attempted murder for the Allerton shooting three months later.
Prosecutors say he also pleaded guilty to the Philadelphia shooting and was sentenced to 17 1/2 to 35 years in prison.
He will serve the two sentences simultaneously.
"The defendant now has been held accountable for this brutal, senseless crime," said Clark.
