The NYPD is searching for a woman suspected of trying to rob another woman at knifepoint.

According to police, a 53-year-old woman says she was walking in Westchester Square near Castle Hill Avenue and East Tremont when another woman allegedly pulled out a knife demanding the purse of the 53-year-old woman.

NYPD reports state the incident happened just before 8 p.m. on July 15. Police say the 53-year-old woman refused to give the suspect her purse. They say that's when the woman holding the knife punched the victim in the face before running off.

The purse was not stolen.

DCPI released a picture of the alleged suspect. She has black and blonde hair and is wearing a grey sweatshirt, red shirt, black shorts and carrying a red bag.

The alleged suspect was said to have run northbound on Castle Hill Avenue.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, in Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website, or on X @NYPDTips.
