A Bronx TikToker accused of fatally stabbing a 17-year-old boy appeared in Bronx Criminal Court after a judge said he was fit to stand trial.

Andrew Tollinche, known online as "DBG," underwent a court-ordered mental examination. During Thursday's appearance, his defense attorney argued Tollinche is under extreme emotional distress and requested a hearing to review the evaluation before he is arraigned.

Tollinche is charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the April killing of 17-year-old Jonathan Melo.

Prosecutors say Melo was riding a scooter when he was stabbed in the back. Tollinche also faces unrelated charges accusing him of raping a minor.

Jonathan Melo's family attended Thursday's court appearance, saying they continue to wait for justice.

"There's no words. Nothing's going to replace my son. But this menace is off the street. One less crazy person to worry about in the Bronx, and he's not insane. You know that? That's all an act. And it's proven," said Jonathan's mother, Raquel Melo.

The family says the past three months have been especially difficult, marking Jonathan's birthday and high school graduation without him.

Members of the advocacy group Not Another Child also attended court to support the family.

Tollinche is due back in Bronx Criminal Court on Sept. 14, when the court is expected to review the findings of his mental examination.
