Magenta Street residents in the Bronx know just how quickly heavy rain can turn into flooding. Water filled the street during heavy rain back in August.
A resident called News 12 during that flooding and with another storm on the way, she says she's not taking any chances. She said residents have to be home when it rains because when the debris comes into the driveways, it blocks the drain.
Over 50 safe overnight locations opened at public schools for city residents who live in basement apartments or flood prone areas.
Officials urge residents not wait until the water starts rise in order to act.
