Two people are out of their home after a fire in Nassau County late Tuesday night.

The North Merrick Fire Department responded to a 911 call for the blaze around 10 p.m. on Merrick Avenue in North Merrick.

Upon arrival, fire crews were met with active flames in the attic and on the 2nd floor of the house, fire officials say.

It took approximately 75 firefighters, from seven local departments, an hour and a half to get the fire under control.

There were two minor civilians hurt, but both people refused medical attention at the scene, according to the Nassau Fire Marshal’s office.

The Red Cross is assisting two occupants who were displaced after the home was deemed uninhabitable.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the fire marshal and the Nassau Police Arson/Bomb Squad.
