It happened just before 12:30 p.m. inside the 7th Avenue station near West 53rd Street.

Sources close to the investigation say they believe the victim and two other men were arguing on the northbound E train platform when gunfire erupted.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. He is believed to be in his 30s, according to police sources.

Paramedics rushed the man to Bellevue Hospital, where the NYPD says he was pronounced dead.
