A man is in custody after two people were shot inside a Claremont apartment Saturday night, according to the NYPD.

Police responded to a 911 call at 9:27 p.m. for shots fired at 3970 Third Ave., where they say a man allegedly fired multiple rounds before barricading himself inside an apartment.

According to investigators, a 70-year-old woman was shot in the abdomen and a 60-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.

Paramedics took the victims to St. Barnabas Hospital. They are both expected to recover, according to police.

The NYPD says officers took a person of intertest into custody at the scene.

Sources close to the investigation say the person of interest is the ex-boyfriend of the 70-year-old woman.

No official arrests have been made as of Sunday afternoon.

Information about what sparked the shooting was not immediately available.
