An NYPD recruit from Brooklyn was killed in a motorcycle crash in Queens, according to police.
The NYPD says 21-year-old Caleb Park lost control of his motorcycle around 6 a.m. Wednesday on the entrance ramp from the Van Wyck Expressway to the Jackie Robinson Parkway and crashed into a concrete barrier.
According to investigators, the impact threw Park from the 2008 Triumph Street Triple motorcycle and onto the roadway.
Paramedics rushed the 21-year-old to Jamaica Hospital, where he died.
New York City Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Hendry released the following statement.
"Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our police officer brother who passed away off duty this morning. Though his NYPD career was only beginning, he will always be remembered his brothers and sisters who trained with him in the Police Academy. We will continue to support his family as they face this unimaginable loss."
