A homeownership seminar held at Century 21 helped prospective buyers learn about New York City’s HomeFirst Down Payment Assistance Program, which offers qualified first-time homebuyers up to $100,000 toward a down payment or closing costs.
The program is administered by the city's Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) and is designed to make homeownership more accessible across the five boroughs.
To qualify, applicants must meet household income requirements, with a maximum income of 120% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Buyers must also complete an HPD-approved homebuyer education course, work with an approved housing counseling agency and contribute at least 3% of the purchase price from their own funds.
Eligible properties include one- to four-family homes, condominiums and co-ops that will serve as the buyer’s primary residence.
The seminar also gave attendees a chance to learn about the homebuying process, financing options and resources available to help them take the first step toward homeownership.
