Mayor Zohran Mamdani, along with other elected officials, held a press conference Monday announcing plans on how to stop stormwater from overflowing in the streets.
They announced a $35 million brand-new water circulation project in Central Park.
The cutting-edge technology will be installed in the Pool, Loch and Meer bodies of water in the park.
The pipes will help regulate the amount of water that is in the parks, so when a storm hits, they can lower the water levels to prevent overflow into the streets.
The project is expected to be finished in the fall of 2028.
