A third woman has died from injuries sustained during a five-car crash on Oct. 9 in Allerton.
George Kennedy told News 12 on Tuesday that his 84-year-old mother, Deloris, died Monday at the hospital after she was in an induced coma for more than two weeks.
"Our family is broken, and it will never be the same again," said Kennedy.
Police said an 81-year-old man was behind the wheel of a 2018 Mercedes-Benz, when he drove through a red light and two crosswalks, hitting several people and causing the collision at the intersection of Allerton and Holland avenues.
The crash also took the life of one of Kennedy's younger sisters, 57-year-old Robin.
"It's just very traumatic," said Kennedy. "I still can't believe it happened."
Kennedy said his other younger sister, 60-year-old Doris, was also hurt in the crash but is recovering.
He said his mother and two sisters were running errands and were walking in the crosswalk when they were hit.
"It was like the Three Musketeers," said Kennedy. "They had an inseparable bond that can never be restored again."
Sources previously told News 12 that the 81-year-old driver likely had some sort of medical incident before the crash.
"Even if he had a medical condition, he shouldn't have been driving," said Kennedy.
Police said 39-year-old Angel Johnson, of the Bronx, also died the day of the crash.
So far, police have not charged the 81-year-old driver.
