NYC has seen an increase in early voting numbers so far for this year's election.
Back in 2022, the NYC Board of Elections estimated about 246,833 voters at the end of the sixth day of early voting.
This year, the NYC BOE estimates 400,137 voters by that sixth day.

The Bronx saw a big jump, with an estimated 23,111 voters at the end of the sixth day of early voting in 2022 compared to the same time this year with 41,629.
“What I can gather is there's just a lot of feeling of frustration and excitement. You know, I think the mayoral election last year taught voters that their vote really does matter and has empowered more folks to get out," said Caroline Welles, who is an executive director of a Political Action Committee.
Welles says those factors combined with the races this year could be contributing to the turnout so far.
“I think it’s the economy. I think it's general voter anger, a desire for change. And also increased awareness and the value of a vote in New York City. They're making economic decisions, but they're also making decisions about potholes and schools and things that truly do affect your life every day," said Welles.
Voters like Joseph George say he's voting for change.
“The price of gas. I mean, the, you know, the cost of living. I couldn't pay my utility bills. You know, all these things I have not experienced in the last 30 years. So now something is happening that needs to change. Election has consequences. Don't blame the other party if things are not going your way, because if you don't vote, then you have no say," said George.
George also says early voting allows him to beat any inconveniences on Election Day,
“My wife is disabled, so I want to avoid the crowds and stuff on Election Day, the long lines and stuff that may occur," said George.
Election Day is Nov. 3.
