A home health aide from the Norwood section of the Bronx and her client were both shot and killed inside an apartment in East Harlem on Thursday night, according to the NYPD.
Police say they responded to a 911 call at the NYCHA Gaylord White Houses on East 104th Street and Second Avenue just after 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
According to the NYPD, 55-year-old Elsa Espina-Espinal, a mother of four, and 66-year-old Wilgen Elias Severino-Tatis were both found with gunshot wounds to the head.
Sources close to the investigation tell News 12 that Severino-Tatis was tied up when officers entered the apartment.
Detectives say paramedics pronounced both victims dead at the scene.
News 12 spoke with Espina-Espina's family on Friday evening, who said she was less than a year away from retiring.
Information about what led up to the killings - or who may have pulled the trigger - was not immediately available.
