The Kingsbridge Heights community is coming together to help dozens of cats in need.

The nonprofit adoption and fostering group Animal Project NYC says a woman and her husband were taking care of 28 cats inside a Bronx apartment.

They slowly became overwhelmed - and reached out to the community for help.

As a result, the ASPCA took 11 of the cats.

Animal Project NYC took the rest on Thursday.

"They just didn't have the means to take care of them for that many and it can be overwhelming," said Director Carol Moon.

Animal Project NYC added that all the cats were well cared and the family was simply overburdened. They say the cats they have are up for adoption. The ASPCA says the cats they have will also be up for adoption in the coming weeks.
